Darfur Call to Action!

Dear Good Spirits

As you read this, diplomatic leaders from around the world are discussing what to do about the genocide in Darfur. Help us seize this opportunity!

Over the next few days, as the United Nations General Assembly gathers in New York, President Bush will meet with many of these world leaders – and he will speak in front of the entire Assembly next week.

We must ensure that a solution to Darfur's spiraling violence is on the agenda at the UN and in the president's speech there. That is why we are organizing a nationwide call-in day TODAY.

Join Darfur activists from around the country and call President Bush today at 202-456-1111.

Ask him to:

  • Make Darfur a top priority during his meetings with world leaders and in his speech to the UN General Assembly;
  • Immediately appoint a Special Envoy; and
  • Do whatever is necessary to deploy a UN peacekeeping force in Darfur.

After you've made your call, click here to let us know how it went.

Making your call is easy. When you dial 202-456-1111, you will speak to a communications coordinator who will take down your comments and then pass them on to the president's advisers. If you get a busy signal, please try again.

The situation in Darfur is dire. Hundreds of thousands are dead, and millions of men, women, and children have been displaced from their homes. Many more are at risk.

Please add your voice to those of the many Americans calling on President Bush to do more to stop the Darfur genocide.

Click here to report back on your phone call.

We must do all we can. I will be calling President Bush today. Will you join me?

Sincerely,

David Rubenstein
