Masque Attack: Why Your iPhone is Probably Safe - Happy Veteran's Day

"Masque Attack sounds like an ominous threat to the iPhone and iPad because it lets attackers replace legit apps with their own malicious versions. Getting those on your iOS device, however, involves some trickery and interaction on your part. The security flaw is serious, but it isn't likely to hit you."

Aunk's Commentary:

Another example of why Iphone is the mobile computing gold standard in security.

There is not an abundance of big security holes for the bad guys to exploit becauce the ecosystem is a contained well managed envronment.

You will note from this piece that anytime there is the slightest hint of a hole, the globle experts report it publicly, as they also probably have Iphones.

Contrast this with so called "Open" ecosystems like windows and Android. 95% of all malware is targeted at this environment.

As an American on this Veterens Day I am reminded of my constitutional right to be secure in my papers and property. No on in moble computing does a better job of securing that right for me then Job's Apple.

Shout out to my Dad Marlin on this Veteren's Day. Hetep and Respect Dad.

iPhone Getting More Culturally Healthy - New Emoji Coming

The first Black Emoji will come June 2015

There are 59 different types of food Emoji, but the pictorial smartphone language has been severely lacking in other areas—specifically when it comes to racial diversity."

Racially Diverse Emoji Are Finally Coming to Your iPhone

Aunk's commentary:

This is an interesting development as technology shrinks our world. The net effect has been more culturally healthy world citizens. This is one more example of how tech can reduce Cultural Poisoning by emulating in cyberspace the ethnic diversity that is the reality here on earth.

Google Flu Trends Found to be in Error

Without specifically acknowledging criticisms about its accuracy, Google announced Friday it would be making some changes to Google Flu Trends, the service that uses search data to track and predict flu outcomes in the United States and around the world. Specifically, Flu Trends will stop relying solely on search data to make predictions but will begin to combine that search data, continually, with publicly available data from the CDC."

Aunk's Commentary:
This is another example of the Google Grandiose Mediocre mindset. Google does search, data mining and ads at the highest quality. Google also does a lot of other side things mostly mediocre. So if they do this with machines like the Iphone clone Android stuff what would make us think they would do better with humans then with machines.

When it comes to health, I would not trust Google as far as I could through them.

Google Flu Trends will supplement crowdsourced approach with CDC data | mobihealthnews:

On a positive note, notice the graph at the top that shows flu season. Not that people in America get colds and the "Flu" when sun light (Vitamin D) goes down and cold weather goes up. If memory serves me their is no flu season in Africa near the equator. The moral of the story is take your vitamin D in the winter as a cold prophylactic. I (an African American) go from 10,000 in the summer to 15,000 iu's in the winter. I live in the New York City area. This keeps my blood Vitamin D level at 80 to 90 ng ml.

The key hear is that vitamin D dosage if different for every human being depending on melanin content and other factors. You need to find what dose produces your target blood levels. By the way I have not had a cold to speak of in years.

Apple Pay USAA Caused me to Open Chase Checking

I wanted to use Apple Pay on my New IPhone 6+ 128g at Wholefoods. I use USSA for my Apple Account, so piece of cake right? Wrong. USAA card was rejected - your bank has not authorized Apple pay yet.

So I walked into my local Chase Branch and opened a checking Account. I got a bank card on the spot. Loaded it into my IPhone by taking a picture of it "successfully" in the bank. Went to Wholefoods and used apple pay for the first time that day.

I learned something from this experience. Chase checking and saving accts are more expensive then USAA, unless you keep a lot of money in them "minimums". But they are free if you are military. They also gave me a free Credit card.

But Chase does not have the expense And category budgeting tools in their Iphone app that USAA has.

Recommendation: USAA move faster to work with the Gold Standard secure Apple folks.

I saw your Alert Apple Pay is coming.

WHEN?

USAA is a great bank for military personal and they have and are leading the banking industry in technology. But they don't have offices on the ground were you can go and do things instantly.

They need to work more closely with the Mobil computing leader Apple so that they don't fall behind in customer service and cause happy customers like me to go to other banks to get services they don't offer.

I was not happy on Apple Pay Announcement day, with NO USAA.

To be clear I like USAA they have been very good in customer service. But chase has been more generous in the available credit area and in being right on the technological curve with the ingenuous A Team at apple. So some money that was planned for USAA may now go into Chase so I can learn about them.

Chase is bigger but looking on the net they have a lot of complaints and stories of dishonesty and closing accounts at the first "sign" of trouble. Just the opposite seems to be true of USAA.

Manhattan clinic offers holistic medicine to the poor and uninsured

For the first time, yoga, meditation, acupuncture and other holistic approaches to medicine are being offered to the poor and uninsured through a federally funded clinic on the Lower East Side

Aunk's Commentary:

Now this is a first, government sponsored holistic health services for the non-wealthy in my home town. More evidence that the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare)  Mind set has shifted the mind share to health care in a way that is beginning to be felt on the ground.

Keep a sharp eyE.

Health Care For $4: Walmart May Be your next Doctor?

 "Goodbye, doctor’s office. Hello, Walmart?

Based on Walmart’s latest moves, it’s not as unlikely as it sounds.

After years of “Will they or won’t they?” discussion, Walmart is making its long-awaited move into delivering primary care: "

Aunk's commentary:
I voted for our President to do three thing when he was elected. He has done two and a half of the three things I hired him to do. The most important of the three was to pass healthcare reform so ordinary hard working Americans could afford health care.
The President's Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) seems to be having some positive unprecedented consequences in making Healthcare Affordable. Imagine going to a health care clinic While you shop at Wal*Mart and it only cost 4$, now that really would be affordable. See the link below for full details.

U.S. Open 2014: Serena Williams Beats Caroline Wozniacki for 18th Grand Slam Title

"   was asked last week what the number 18 meant to her.

“It means legal to do some things,” she said, laughing.

But she knew what the reporter was getting at.

“It also means legendary,” she added more seriously."

What a serve, what a forehand! when she is on her game their is no one else in the building.
I watched all her matches and she was outstanding. In the Post final interview she said she really worked hard the last 6 months to get here. My calculator says $4, 000,000 ain't bad for 6 months work.

She is now tied with two of the three legends, and she has gas left in the tank. What a story.

To be continued 2015.

Can't wait for the men's final today, another amazing tennis story emerging.

On a personal note regarding my tennis, I have been on the injured reserve list this year do to a foot injury. but have no fear I'll be back next year.

Phrae health charter includes traditional medicine

"The traditional medicinal treatments are carried out by mor muang, a local name for those the villagers call sages, who make medicines from herbs and plants according to formulas passed down since generations.

In Phrae, such medicine textbooks - written on bailan (dried palm leaves) over 100 years ago - were preserved in Wat Phra Luang's sacred library museum. Sung Men district's oldest mor muang is Jamnong Maenya, 76, who lives in tambon Phra Luang. "

It seems to me that it is only common sense to bring all resources to bear on medical challenges unless their is a hidden agenda not related to health.

Apple Announces Health Kit - Droids go blind!

The world is expecting Apple on June 2 to announce Health Book (Kit) and rewrite the book on personal bio-metrics even before the Iwatch is announced. The Droid people are worried about Health Kit and the deteriorating health of Droids. Read this important Droid story that the Apple announcements are overshadowing.

Not only is the Apple announcement at their Developers conference about to Blind side the Droid tribe again. But evidence has surfaced that Droid was blind before the conference. Droids don't have a sophisticated motion chip like Iphones M7 chip but we assumed they could tell where they were in space. Well it turns out they can't. (:-(

I have often reported about the importance of getting the most for your money. In portable computing Technology the gold standard is Iphone period. This article demonstrates yet another example of Iphone clone (Droid) mediocrity.

A wise man once said, "you may not always get what you pay for but you never get what you don't pay for".

A new article "Bounden delays iOS to Android port - Google phones' gyroscopes don't work" lays out the details of why cheap is not better and can actually be very bad.

See video below: The Droid "Giro" accuracy is all over the place. In some cases there is no Gyroscope. They really dupe the technologically illiterate by simulating a Gyro using a compass and accelerometer, WOW. The Droids literally do not know where they are

This is a good example why most A class developers create apps for the Iphone first. You write the app once for the gold standard and it runs on all IOS devices. Just for the Droids in this picture the App developer (in this case Bounden) would have to write 6 different apps to run on Droid. The fact is to cover all the Iphone clones (droids) the developer would have to maybe make"100" different Apps. No developers are going to do that.

One of the interesting numbers from WWDC 2014 is that 89% of apples users have the latest operating system (the software the apps live in). but only 9% of Droid users have the latest Operating system. What does this mean to us as users? Think about it if you were a developer (makes apps) would you spend your valuable time writing you great app for the latest operating system of a mobile computing device  where only 9% the market could run your app. Or would you write for the 89% market.

The answer is self-evident and this problem with Droids is called fragmentation.

What is worst no one knows how to solve this Google Droid fragmentation and quality problem. Don't believe the hype, open is not always better, mobile computing is two new and for my money just the opposite is true at this point in time.

I had a friend last summer who had received seven droids from his carrier Verizon to try and fix problems he was having. bottom line if you are not up on technology, do your self a favor get the gold standard and avoid all the slapped together junk that is out their.

The best selling phone at all the Major US Carriers is Iphone. If you want to understand why Carriers are sticking their less informed customers  with Droids, the answer is simple, MONEY. No, it is not because the Droid is just as "good" as the Iphone, They make more money off Droids. Read the book Dog Fight, it is a good account of the relationship and capabilities of  Apple, Google and Microsoft, and the other also rans.

If money is an issue and you are forced to by a cheap phone, I recommend you go with a Windows Phone, at least they are not just trying to clone the Iphone and their quality tends to be better then the patch work of the run of the mill Droids.

Buy American, Buy the Best!

Herb supplements are the most common complementary medicine in US

"Herbs and other dietary supplements besides vitamins are the most commonly used type of "complementary medicine" (also called alternative medicine) in the United States, followed by visits to chiropractors, yoga and massage, a new report finds"

In 2012, nearly 18 percent of American adults said they took herbs or other supplements that were not vitamins and minerals. Other types of complementary medicine were less common: 8.5 percent said they were treated by a chiropractor or osteopathic physician, 8.4 percent said they did yoga, 6.8 percent said they had a massage and 4.1 percent said they meditated.

Veterans get free relief through alternative medicine (Video)

"Nearly 100 veterans have found relief through Healing Warriors Program, a Northern Colorado nonprofit that provides free and reduced-cost alternative medicine treatments."

For David Sykes, 63, that relief is at the prick of a needle. He travels from Greeley to Fort Collins every other week for acupuncture with Healing Warriors acupuncturist Abbye Silverstein.

The U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam veteran has worked with the program since August and found it to be “very beneficial” in dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder, a sciatic nerve injury caused by jumping repeatedly out of choppers and social issues caused by his frustration and pain.

I was in during the Vietnam era and it would have been nice to have this forward looking treatment available then. As the saying goes, better late then never.

Apple gets Corporate Cultural Health Award

It Is one thing for heads of state or private citizen to pay tribute to the great African chief and President in Mandela. It is another thing for a company to do so by putting Mandela Front and center on their website.

In a time when many companies stand for nothing in the era of Bankster's, greed is good and mediocre products, apples Moral tone and tenure stand out.

For this I judge that they get the corporate cultural health award for 2013.

Both Jobs and Mandela we're great visionaries that left the world a better place than when they found it.

Possible Link Between DDT Pesticide Exposure And Alzheimer's Disease

Pesticides (poison for pest) that big pharmer infests our foods with is getting more scrutiny for its bad effect disease capability.

Alzheimer (size decreased) brain on top normal brain bottom

Let's take a commonsense cultural health look at Alzheimer's. Pesticides screw up a pest's nervous system, they shake and die. Him what do they tell us about Alzheimer's patients shaking. After forty or fifty years of ingesting pestisides, Humm 2+2=?

We must encourage mediplex's (Medical industrial complex) to stop allowing the FDA to bless stuff that can be harmful to our health.
