President Obama's Speech on Libya And Its Cultural Health Implications

There is much discussion about the Geopolitics of the President's actions. Some have asked about the political implications, did he go to congress, how will this effect the 2012 election, etc. Here we will take an AA's look at the Cultural Health implications for the President. (Video)

I did a piece on the potential Cultural Health implications of attacking Libya before the Presidents explanation of his reasoning.

Click here for my pre-speech thoughts. Now these are my thoughts after the President's speech.

 I watched the President's explanation of why he acted in the Libya crisis. 

First the good news. Obama said after 9 days of military action, he did not use the word war, we will be out of the lead on Wednesday when NATO takes over. 

He believed a town of 700,000 was about to be massacred. To stop it was in our national interestand consistent with our values.

Regarding our interested he side the massacre would create a regional refugee problem that could destabilize Libya' neighbors Egypt and Tunisia who are in transition as we speak.

On values, he said that military action was necessary to stop a massacre similar to Bosnia and Rwanda. He also pointed to this as a UN based world warning shot to others that would turn military might against their own people to stay in power.

The President indicate he would like to see Gaddafi step down and the people elect who they want to lead them it is not the US mission to kill Gaddafi. 

On regional interests and values, mostly on values, I tend to except his explanation and view this as a positive development pending more information. 

I admit I am Culturally Illiterate regarding Libya and its history but I know Gaddafi to be a friend to Black People world wide, a secularist and an enemy of Muslim extremest. 

It is important to note what was not said, The West and the Arab block was united but the President did not get a green light from the African Union or the rest of the world.

There was no mention of Oil or the British blood lust.

It turns out that the Republican Ronald Reagan in 1986 attacked the same African country, for a different reason, I think.

Questions:

1. How long do we stay -end game?

2. What does it cost? 

3. Is this a military action "add on" to the Obama Doctrine of people make change, an antidote to the a Gaddafi doctrine of power prevents change? 

4. Will this new values based military action (no fly air only) to save civilians be applied to other parts of Africa like Congo?

5. What are the Cultural Health implications?

The bottom line is, I came away from the President's explanation not as against his action as I went into the speech.


My question to you is what did you think before and after the speech?

Farrakhan Advises Obama on Libya

African Americans did not automatically support Obama for President. You will recall they looked at him closely to understand that he was not a Cultural Traitor like Clarance Thomas, before they threw their support behind him. And we will be watching his actions closely with regard to Libya (Video)

I voted for the President and if you know my writing you know I am a strong supporter of our President. However, I disagree regarding his policy on Libya as I understand it today. I hired him to end the two Bush wars not to start a third war, especially not to attack Africa.

Qaddafi is no Saddam Hussein i.e. an American Bush CIA puppet gone rouge. Qaddafi describes himself as an African not an Arab. He help us in South Africa. He is for a United States of Africa which I support as the future of Africa in the Global Village. He has sent money to AA causes here in the United states and built much for his people out of oil profits.

Unlike Egypt's natural non-violent uprising, I suspect that the violent Libya insurgency is a combination of Islam extremest, who don't like this secular African President, and the CIA, British, French subversion of natural decent. Not unlike what Bush and the forty thieves did in Venezuela.

"...I warn my brother don't you let these wicked demons move you in a direction that will absolutely ruin your future with your people in Africa and throughout the world..."

This is good advise and the President would be wise to listen. Like before the election, the 2 billion+ Black People worldwide are watching Libya and the President's actions as they relate to Cultural Health. Politics aside this is a very culturally risky situation.

I hear the President is not for assassination like the historically murderous British area. Germany has pulled out of the alliance because of the murderous intentions of the Brits.

Bush led the Brits down a no win war rat hole and they are trying to return the favor, Mr. President don't bite.

Whether you agree with Farrakhan as a person or not, he has made some important points and laid out some facts that need to be put in the peace piped and smoked.

"...Why don't you organize a group of respected Americans and ask for a meeting with Qaddafi..."

Unfortunately this is not a political practicality in the reality of Tea Party extreme Republican politics. But it has the ring of a peaceful thing that could produce positive results on the continent and around the world.

How many of you think the Libya attack was a Clinton thing, that Obama reluctantly went along with because he cut a deal with the Clinton's to let them run foreign policy while he focused on his main domestic goals like Health Care Reform?

I will be watching the President's speech tonight on Libya policy to better understand his role,how about you.

The President's Democratic focus on Jobs is working for the economy as a practical matter.

Consumer Spending Stays on Upward Trend

U.S. consumer spending rose 0.7% in February, the largest increase since October and the eighth straight month of gains, easing some worries about the economic recovery.

After adjusting for inflation—factoring out such things as the jump in gas prices—consumption rose 0.3%, the Commerce Department said Monday.

"Consumers could have endured these higher [gasoline] prices by cutting back on discretionary purchases, but they did not," said Ken Mayland, president of ClearView Economics.

The pickup in spending came as personal income rose by 0.3% last month, though higher prices sapped the gains. The saving rate, meanwhile, slid to 5.8%.

Congress and the Obama administration in December agreed to extend income tax cuts for Americans. The tax relief has fattened paychecks, providing consumers a cushion against rising gasoline prices. Read more at www.wallstreetjournal.com

A confused crossword puzzle. A psychedelic postage stamp. A bar code on drugs

This is how a QR, or Quick Response, code may appear to most people. You may have noticed these black-and-white squares showing up in subway ads or in pages of magazines. Thanks to our growing addiction to our smartphones, you'll likely be seeing more of them.

QR codes are showing up in more and more places: posters, storefront window displays, TV advertisements, business cards, websites and even on T-shirts. When accessed with your phone, a QR code takes you to a landing page where you'll usually find special promotional content.

Here's how they work:

First, you must download a QR scanning application for your smartphone. When you see a QR code on a poster or billboard, open the scanning app and use the phone's camera to focus the code on your screen. The application will recognize the code and automatically open up the link, video or image in your phone's browser. You just need an internet connection to access the content.

Many QR scanning applications -- RedLaser is a popular one -- are available for Android, iPhone, BlackBerry and Symbian phones. Anyone can generate their own QR code for free. And you can link it to anything -- from URLs to contact information to your GPS location.

Brands and companies are increasingly taking advantage of this relatively low-cost marketing tool. Last year, the animated movie "9" was promoted with green posters containing only a large QR code that took users to a new trailer and special features.

A recent issue of Wired magazine included an ad by watchmaker Tag Heuer that contained a QR code that led users to images of its latest collection of timepieces. Harry Belafonte Truth About Obama

I do not think the honorable Belafonte spoke "harsh" words for Barack Obama. I think he stated a political reality that all Americans need to know about our Presidents.



I hired the President to do three things 1. End Bush wars, 2. Pass Health Reform 3. Fix economy with a green moon shot, he is doing all three. It is we the people that must give him the juice to get the job done.

Hitfix Interview: Harry Belafonte and his harsh words for Barack Obama

PARK CITY - One of the most stirring documentaries making the rounds at the Sundance Film Festival this year is “Sing Your Song,” a film about the life of Harry Belafonte. While the movie traces his musical career, its focus is his life-long role as a civil rights leader and humanitarian and as someone who has never feared speaking truth to power. It shows him walking side-by-side with Martin Luther King Jr., gently chiding the Kennedys for dragging their feet in supporting civil rights, rebuking Bill Clinton for his actions in Haiti, and celebrating Nelson Mandela’s release from prison.

His actions have come at a cost:  the FBI spied on him relentlessly and ultimately broke up his first marriage. He’s been chased by the Ku Klux Klan and threatened many times.

Give me your assessment of Pres. Obama and where you feel we are right now.

I’m very proud that he’s in office, but that’s about it.  What I now understand is without us being completely active and engaged and taking charge, he will not move. This happened before. John Kennedy became John Kennedy because of the Civil Rights Movement. History made John Kennedy more than John Kennedy made history with the peace movement of the time, the civil rights movement, what young people did. When we got active, the president stepped into the space and did what he had to do. So did Johnson and I think the same thing is necessary for Barack Obama. If he doesn’t have an active society, if he  doesn’t have an active Black community, if he doesn’t have an active Native American community, if he doesn’t have an active women’s community, he doesn’t have to do anything but duck bullets from the opposition. Geraldine Ferraro Dies At 75 with 2 Dis-eases

Geraldine Ferraro Dies At 75 failing to apologizes to the American people or the AA community. As a VP candidate, Ferraro was the Democratic Sarah Palin of old. Ferraro faced two dis-eases. She died of of blood cancer but also suffered from Cultural Poisoning.

I send my condolences to her family and friends. It is an ancient African tradition that we must all learn from the life of our public figures, good and not so good, as they leave this plane. This is done not to throw stones, but that our lives are better having understood the full measure of the person.

Having said that, I think America would have been standing on sounder ground if Mondale Ferraro won in 1984, instead of Reagan Bush. The Dem team with its faults, would not have attacked the unions and womans rights as the Republicans have.

It’s Tracking Your Every Move and You May Not Even Know

A favorite pastime of Internet users is to share their location: services like Google Latitude can inform friends when you are nearby; another, Foursquare, has turned reporting these updates into a game.

But as a German Green party politician, Malte Spitz, recently learned, we are already continually being tracked whether we volunteer to be or not. Cellphone companies do not typically divulge how much information they collect, so Mr. Spitz went to court to find out exactly what his cellphone company, Deutsche Telekom, knew about his whereabouts.

The results were astounding. In a six-month period — from Aug 31, 2009, to Feb. 28, 2010, Deutsche Telekom had recorded and saved his longitude and latitude coordinates more than 35,000 times. Here is the story, You have to hear this to believe that a young women could be so culturally poisoned at to throw away all her hard work at university. This dis-ease can be very costly if not caught in time.  Cultural Poisoning does not pay.

Yes, her comments do seem on the extreme side of Cultural Poisoning.


" So we know that I am not the most "politically Correct" person" These Republican Social Conservative code words suggest that she is from a hard core Cultural Anti-humanist family.

You are right, if the parents suffer the dis-ease and it is not corrected the children will catch it. And if the dis-ease is severe enough, the children in a dangerous state of Cultural disorientation might get on YouTube and try, like a deranged AIDs patient, to spread the dis-ease.

Cultural Illiteracy is also evident in her symptom complex.

"Old" Asian people, denotes the absence of the concept of elders. In the West the culture calls senior members of their society old people. In the Central Worldview (African) and the Eastern Worldview (Asian) Senior members of society are thought of as honored elders. There is a big difference in cultural orientation with respect to experience and wisdom in the Western Worldview compared to the Majority Worldviews in the world.

"...They don't teach their kids to fen for themselves..." an example of the Western excessive individualism core value. The communal value of high regard for family friends and fellow citizens is not in this persons spirit. Want to bet that she and her parents are also against ACA that give health care access to 33 million of her fellow Americans.

Now the danger is to this young lady's children? What will she teach them? What will be their state of Cultural Health?

On a positive note:

Behind the cultural poisoning is a valid point, you should not be on the phone in the library, especially not during finals. She was civil in her response with the "shsss".

Her fellow students, in the majority at the school, recognized the Cultural Poisoning even if they did not call it that and applied appropriate corrective cultural pressure. She got a similar dose of Cultural Pressure on YouTube itself from around the world.

The good news is that UCLA is a more culturally health place today then in my day, and so is the world.

The question is, did this young girl learn from her cultural poisoning symptoms being exposed?

P.S. here is an Asian American trying in a light hearted way to hold a Cultural Poisoning mirror up to Alexandra Wallace. White Girls in The Library (just in case you thought Asians were not offended by the denigration of their ethnic group).

For my AA brothers and sisters you will note that you do not see Asian Americans denigrating themselves. They do not call themselves the ".."N" Word..." and make it known when they or their group is disrespected, The ball is in your court. You get respect if you give it, to yourself first.
