Bryant Gumbel Calls NBA Commish "Plantation Overseer"

Mr. Gumbel in his senior years seems to have grown some Cultural orbs. This article is not a pro worker, pro AA article but it will bring you up to speed on the battle between the workers (Players) and the no talent folks who rip off most the money that smarts skill and talent generate.

Bryant Gumbel Calls NBA Commish

Bryant Gumbel compared NBA Commissioner David Stern to a "plantation overseer."

Gumbel ended Tuesday's edition of HBO's "Real Sports" by taking aim at Stern, who he said is to blame for the lockout that threatens the entire season. He said Stern's "disdain for the players" is "pathetic."

"But his efforts were typical of a commissioner, who has always seemed eager to be viewed as some kind of modern plantation overseer treating NBA men as if they were his boys," Gumbel said. "It’s part of Stern’s M.O. Like his past self-serving edicts on dress code or the questioning of officials, his moves are intended to do little more than show how he’s the one keeping the hired hands in their place."

The Phone Wars - Iphone and the 7 Droids

You may not be old enough to remember the Mainframe Wars but the players were known as IBM and the 7 dwarfs. Now in the cell phone wars we have the same thing all over again, with one big difference.

Back in the 60's I worked for one of the dwarfs and we all made an IBM Clone that was either, faster, had more memory or was cheaper. The Droid Iphone clones have the same game plan except we provided all software updates and our machines were always up to date.

I have an Iphone but I know people with Droids at the Gym who are always complaining, now I understand why. Most of these phones are not supported, they can be as much a 3 OS's behind. The graph shows that many Droid clones become simi-bricks as early as the first year. Wow, you got to see this graph.

Android Orphans: Visualizing a Sad History of Support
The announcement that Nexus One users won’t be getting upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich led some to justifiably question Google’s support of their devices. I look at it a little differently: Nexus One owners are lucky. I’ve been researching the history of OS updates on Android phones and Nexus One users have fared much, much better than most Android buyers.
I went back and found every Android phone shipped in the United States1 up through the middle of last year. I then tracked down every update that was released for each device - be it a major OS upgrade or a minor support patch - as well as prices and release & discontinuation dates. I compared these dates & versions to the currently shipping version of Android at the time. The resulting picture isn’t pretty - well, not for Android users:
Other than the original G1 and MyTouch, virtually all of the millions of phones represented by this chart are still under contract today. If you thought that entitled you to some support, think again:
  • 7 of the 18 Android phones never ran a current version of the OS.
  • 12 of 18 only ran a current version of the OS for a matter of weeks or less.
  • 10 of 18 were at least two major versions behind well within their two year contract period.
  • 11 of 18 stopped getting any support updates less than a year after release.
  • 13 of 18 stopped getting any support updates before they even stopped selling the device or very shortly thereafter.
  • 15 of 18 don’t run Gingerbread, which shipped in December 2010.
  • In a few weeks, when Ice Cream Sandwich comes out, every device on here will be another major version behind.
  • At least 16 of 18 will almost certainly never get Ice Cream Sandwich.
Also worth noting that each bar in the chart starts from the first day of release - so it only gets worse for people who bought their phone late in its sales period.

New Iphone: Why Is Apple's Siri Female?

My first reaction was hmm, is Siri sexest? But the answer to the question is deeper than that.

Siri, are you male or female? If you ask this question of the iPhone 4S voice assistant, it won't give you a clear answer, but most people assume that the distinctly feminine-sounding voice comes from a woman.
Apple iPhone 4S (Sprint)
Many electronics, such as GPS devices or voicemail boxes, are female, and according to a CNN report, there is likely a psychological reason behind this. Siri sounds female in at least the U.S. and four other countries, although in France and the U.K., Siri sounds male.
Meanwhile, Siri's clever answers to the questions of iPhone 4S users has provided plenty of material for blogs, memes, and Tumblr and Twitter accounts. For more on Siri see How to Use Siri, How to Teach Siri Your Name, and 30 Questions and Commands for Siri.

MC Hammer's WireDoo: Will Dent Google and Bing, Apple Could buy them.

A deep search alternative to Google is what we need in the new Job's era of Artificial Intelligence. I think Apple should immediately if they have not already make strong connection between Siri and WireDoo. I would also expect they are looking close at WireDoo for purchase.

Apples First AD for the New Iphone Focuses on Assisting it's owners

Wow, by the holiday everyone will be talking to, or wanting to talk to their own personal assistant. (Video)

Lets Go to the Video Tape

Two things about this short Ad, it is amazing how much you can pack into 30 seconds. Second all of us with Iphones immediately went to play this commercial back to see if our phone could do that too. Sure enough, when I asked Siri who to time a bow tie if found a great video for me. And how about that little girl about my grandson's age, "fund me a picture of a Weasel" .  I tried it, and yep, Siri found me a picture of a weasel.

Aside from the fact that this is the best holiday present since sliced bread there are a couple of things the public should get from this commercial. One 4S is not just simple Speech Recognition (SR) like non-intelligent Google voice or that type of technology that was in the Iphone 3GS and 4. This is a whole new level of Speech recognition combined with artificial intellegence (A.I.) to assist you.

So the new Iphone feature is the unique combination of SR and AI in a hand held device. The benefit you handled now does no longer just make phone calls but assist you find things and get things done. It strikes me that it will be a great help to the disabled, especially those that can not or have trouble typing or spelling.

Imagine that a phone that tries to figure out what you want, instead of you trying to figure out what it wants.

Thank you Mr. Jobs and team.

Droid is the Same As Iphone - You Can't Be Sirious (Poll)

Droid is the Same As Iphone - You Can't Be Sirious (Poll)

I ran into a friend who had a droid. After I offered my condolences, he told me that the salesperson who sold it to him, did not sell the Iphone he asked for, but assured him the droid was a smart phone the "SAME" as the Iphone. With shock and dismay, like my tennis hero John Mcenroe, I said, you can't be Sirious!
That should read who's got the Iphone +[;-)
I then went on to explain to my locked in for two years unhappy Droid friend about Siri (Job's Personal Assistant That learns) and the general position of Apple and the Seven Droids (like IBM and the 7 Dwarfs). The good news is, now that Iphone is carried by more carriers, there will be less to of this bait and switch happening to the poor clueless customer.

Apple Inc. sold more than 4 million iPhone 4S devices in the first three days after it was introduced, setting a record as customers lined up at stores from Sydney to San Francisco to be first with the new touch- screen handset.
Demand for the new device extends Apple's lead as the top maker of smartphones as it fends off rivals including Samsung Electronics Co. and HTC Corp. that rely on Google Inc.'s Android software. U.S. wireless partners Verizon Wireless, AT&T Inc. and Sprint Nextel Corp. reported high activation rates for the new iPhone, which has new voice-recognition software, a speedier processor and higher-quality camera.

Sunday is the last day of the week for me and it is remarkable that this week the two Big Cultural Health Stories are about Dr. King, a great African American, and Herman Cain who declares - Don't call me no stinkin AA - (my words) - Video.
I have to give it to Mr. Cain he does know how to make headlines by using dog whistle code to trash his former ethnic group. Breaking News My Iphone 4S shipped ETA 10:30 AM EST

AT&T must be taking a page from Apple's Retail customer service genius book. I did not expect it till Monday.

When it gets here I will update U, up close and personal, blow by blow.

The 4S got here one half an hour early at 10:01 Am THANK YOU AT&T you are the big story of the day, maybe even bigger then Apple. I have everything restored to my 4S Cloud is working hardware software is OK. Now to activate the phone.

Hold the phone, I just called AT&T to activate my phone and they tell me they did not activate it properly and I should go to my local AT&T store for help or send it back and they will send me a new one with the right activation, fat chance I will be sending this phone back.

OK. I got someone who seems to know what they are doing and they sent me to the IVR system for automatic activation. Now that sounds reasonable, we will see? Stand by

Success we are activated. AT&T was not the problem as I later discovered in the bottom of the box was the one page activation instructions WHICH I DID NOT READ. The process does not require humans and it bullet proof. If you get humans involved they will screw it up. My Bad.

I giver AT&T and A (except for the woman from hell who told me to send it back, lol) That you can get human beings from America at AT&T is actually a big pulse for us customers that don't read instructions,

Now onto see how my friend who ordered through Apple on-line. Then testing out Siri and AirPlay.

Top Ten T.V. Cultural Poisoning Comments + Columbus Day

If you do not know what symptoms of Cultural Poisoning sounds like, this short demonstration is a powerful example of nationally famous incidents of poor cultural health. In some of these cases you will recall that the people lost their jobs as a result of their untreated dis-ease. (Video)

We can generally tell a slip of the tongue from underlying conscious or unconscious  thinking. Cultural Health is a terrible thing to waste. If you do not want to improve your Cultural Health for moral reasons, or so that you don't make and A$$ out of yourself in public, then do it to best preserve your economic health.

The above type of Cultural Poisoning is fairly easy to detect if you have your RaceDar on.
Columbus Day Cultural Poisoning requires you understand some basics about history. So here are some Columbus Day 101 Cultural Literacy corrections to the historical record.

Columbus Day 101
1. The indigenous people of Turtle is Island (America's) are not "Indian's" Indians are from India
2. You can not discover a place where people already live.
3. Columbus was not the first European to visit Turtle Island.
4. The vikings came to this land 500 years earlier and the Africans were here 1500 years earlier.
5. Christopher Columbus was a criminally insane murder and en-slaver of people
6. His visit spread World War Zero (The enslavement of people of color "Slave Trade") to Turtle Island leading to 50 million indigenous dead. This is added to the 100 million Africans that would die in WW0.
7. Columbus's attack on Turtle Island must be understood in the context of of the Cultural War c. 1500 B.C.E. -Present that starts in Classical African Civilization, Kemet (Ancient Egypt)
8. The Culturally Healthy Indigenous people of Turtle Island (Native Americans) hold this day as a day as a day of morning.

First Federal Reserve Audit in 100 Years - 16 Trillion Secret Bailots

The Federal Reserve which, is neither federal nor has any reserves (that we could see until now) should be shut down and the printing of money should return to the American people where we can keep an eye on our funds.

Audit of the Federal Reserve Reveals $16 Trillion in Secret Bailouts
The first ever GAO(Government Accountability Office) audit of the Federal Reserve was carried out in the past few months due to the Ron Paul, Alan Grayson Amendment to the Dodd-Frank bill, which passed last year. Jim DeMint, a Republican Senator, and Bernie Sanders, an independent Senator, led the charge for a Federal Reserve audit in the Senate, but watered down the original language of the house bill(HR1207), so that a complete audit would not be carried out. Ben Bernanke(pictured to the left), Alan Greenspan, and various other bankers vehemently opposed the audit and lied to Congress about the effects an audit would have on markets. Nevertheless, the results of the first audit in the Federal Reserve’s nearly 100 year history were posted on Senator Sander’s webpage earlier this morning:  http://sanders.senate.gov/newsroom/news/?id=9e2a4ea8-6e73-4be2-a753-62060dcbb3c3
What was revealed in the audit was startling: $16,000,000,000,000.00 had been secretly given out to US banks and corporations and foreign banks everywhere from France to Scotland. From the period between December 2007 and June 2010, the Federal Reserve had secretly bailed out many of the world’s banks, corporations, and governments. The Federal Reserve likes to refer to these secret bailouts as an all-inclusive loan program, but virtually none of the money has been returned and it was loaned out at 0% interest. Why the Federal Reserve had never been public about this or even informed the United States Congress about the $16 trillion dollar bailout is obvious — the American public would have been outraged to find out that the Federal Reserve bailed out foreign banks while Americans were struggling to find jobs.
Citigroup: $2.5 trillion ($2,500,000,000,000)

Morgan Stanley: $2.04 trillion ($2,040,000,000,000)

Merrill Lynch: $1.949 trillion ($1,949,000,000,000)

Bank of America: $1.344 trillion ($1,344,000,000,000)

Civil Rights Leader the Rev. Shuttlesworth Dies

Hetep and Respect one last time to a great civil rights soldier in one of the hot battles of the Cultural War c.1500 B.C.E. - 2011 C.E.

I remember as a young person watching the Rev. stand up to ol' `Bull' Connor, a criminally insane cop, who stood on the steps over him blocking African Americans from entering the building to register to vote. The Bull lunged at the rev and cracked him in the face with his billy club, blood went everywhere. The Rev. looked the Bull in his little cultural terrorist eyes and said, we are going to vote, you can beat us, but we will be back! (paraphrase)

As I looked for a video for this tribute to Rev. Shuttleworths I found plenty of history but what was needed as I found out was a way to let you feel what it might have felt like to sit in the Rev's church and feel his spirit. And to maybe let you feel what his life and passing is saying to your/our spirit today.
Let's Go To The Video Tape
To my Brothers and Sisters who fail to vote, do not fail the Rev. and us in 2012 - Wake the hell uP!

Remembering Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth Video 2:45 See and hear the Rev yourself.

To understand a Civil Rights Soldier you must understand the Cultural Terrorist he was fighting. Bull Connor controlled the police department and fire department in Birmingham Alabama, and filled them with other Cultural Terrorists.

To have a good look at the face of overt Cultural Terrorism in America in the 60's that Rev. Shuttlesworth, as one of the big three generals of the Civil Rights Battle of the Cultural War helped to defeat, watch this video Click HERE.

As the old dirty South type Republicans continue the war against Americans voting today, we can learn from the courage of our ancestor.

He transitioned at 89 instead of 120. This should remind us all to work to improve our physical health, Cultural Health and Spiritual Health so that we might maximize our time and purpose in this life.

Rev. Fred L. Shuttlesworth your country thanks you for your service to her. Your community thanks you and we continue to look to your leadership honorable ancestor.

Civil rights leader the Rev. Shuttlesworth dies

BIRMINGHAM — The Rev. Fred L. Shuttlesworth, who was bombed, beaten and repeatedly arrested in the fight for civil rights and hailed by the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. for his courage and tenacity, has died. He was 89.
FILE - In this June 28, 2007 file photo, civil rights activist the Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth departs the Federal Courthouse in Montgomery, Ala. Shuttlesworth, who was hailed by the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. for his courage and energy, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011 at teh Birmingham, Ala. hospital. He was 89. (AP Photo/Dave Martin, File)
"My church was a beehive," Shuttlesworth once said. "I made the movement. I made the challenge. Birmingham was the citadel of segregation, and the people wanted to march."
In his 1963 book "Why We Can't Wait," King called Shuttlesworth "one of the nation's most courageous freedom fighters ... a wiry, energetic and indomitable man."
Birmingham Mayor William Bell ordered city flags lowered to half-staff until after Shuttleworth's funeral. Bell, who is black, said he would not be mayor if not for leaders like Shuttlesworth.
"I went to jail 30 or 40 times, not for fighting or stealing or drugs," Shuttlesworth told grade school students in 1997. "I went to jail for a good thing, trying to make a difference."
Alabama's first black federal judge, U.W. Clemon, said Shuttlesworth flung himself at injustice well knowing he could be killed at any moment. "He was the first black man I knew who was totally unafraid of white folks," said Clemon, who retired from the bench and is now a privately practicing attorney.
And in November 2008, Shuttlesworth watched from a hospital bed as Sen. Barack Obama was elected the nation's first African-American president. The year before, Obama had pushed Shuttlesworth's wheelchair across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma during a commemoration of the Selma-to-Montgomery voting rights march — a moment Obama recalled Wednesday.
In the early 1960s, Shuttlesworth had invited King back to Birmingham. Televised scenes of police dogs and fire hoses being turned on black marchers, including children, in the spring of 1963 helped the rest of the nation grasp the depth of racial animosity in the Deep South.
. "He marched into the jaws of death every day in Birmingham before we got there," said Andrew Young, the former Atlanta mayor and U.N. ambassador who served as an aide to King.
"When God made Bull Connor, one of the real negative forces in this country, He was sure to make Fred Shuttlesworth." Lowery said.

The iPhone 4S is available for pre-order in just a few hours, and for the first time it will be available on the U.S.’s three largest wireless networks: Verizon, AT&T and Sprint. Pre-orders for the new iPhone begin at 12:01 AM PT on Friday (that’s later tonight, but technically extremely early tomorrow morning) — so if you stay up late, you can be one of the first.

Declaration of the Occupation of New York City

Yesterday, over 700 Occupy Wall Street protesters were arrested and issued summonses or desk appearance tickets in connection with their demonstration on, and blockage of, the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City.  Resentment in connection to social injustice has been palpably rising in the U.S. and around the world.  Ten years ago, when I was doing doctoral work at the University of Illinois at Chicago, a professor of mine asked the class, speaking of social injustice and economic inequality in the U.S., this question:  "Where is the revolution?"  Nobody knew how to answer her.  But that was before Arab Spring.
"Occupy Wall Street is a leaderless resistance movement with people of many colors, genders, and political persuasions. The one thing we all have in common is that we are the 99% that will no longer tolerate the greed and corruption of the 1%. We are using the revolutionary Arab Spring tactic to achieve our ends and encourage the use of nonviolence to maximize the safety of all participants. As we gather together in solidarity to express a feeling of mass injustice, we must not lose sight of what brought us together. We write so that all people who feel wronged by the corporate forces of the world can know that we are your allies."
Declaration of the Occupation of New York City:
"As we gather together in solidarity to express a feeling of mass injustice, we must not lose sight of what brought us together. We write so that all people who feel wronged by the corporate forces of the world can know that we are your allies.
As one people, united, we acknowledge the reality: that the future of the human race requires the cooperation of its members; that our system must protect our rights, and upon corruption of that system, it is up to the individuals to protect their own rights, and those of their neighbors; that a democratic government derives its just power from the people, but corporations do not seek consent to extract wealth from the people and the Earth; and that no true democracy is attainable when the process is determined by economic power. We come to you at a time when corporations, which place profit over people, self-interest over justice, and oppression over equality, run our governments. We have peaceably assembled here, as is our right, to let these facts be known.
They have taken our houses through an illegal foreclosure process, despite not having the original mortgage.
They have taken bailouts from taxpayers with impunity, and continue to give Executives exorbitant bonuses.
They have poisoned the food supply through negligence, and undermined the farming system through monopolization.
They have continuously sought to strip employees of the right to negotiate for better pay and safer working conditions.
They have held students hostage with tens of thousands of dollars of debt on education, which is itself a human right.
They have consistently outsourced labor and used that outsourcing as leverage to cut workers’ healthcare and pay.
They have influenced the courts to achieve the same rights as people, with none of the culpability or responsibility.
They have donated large sums of money to politicians, who are responsible for regulating them
They continue to block generic forms of medicine that could save people’s lives or provide relief in order to protect investments that have already turned a substantial profit.
They purposefully keep people misinformed and fearful through their control of the media.
They have perpetuated colonialism at home and abroad.
